Samsung is on the verge of entering the extended reality (XR) space with its upcoming Android XR headset, which has recently received Bluetooth certification. This certification, granted to the device under the model number SM-I610 and known as Galaxy XR, is a significant step that typically precedes a consumer launch.

The Galaxy XR headset, also known as “Project Moohan” internally, is the result of a collaboration between tech giants Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm. This partnership aims to provide a premium XR experience with high-quality components. The device will be powered by Android XR, a customized version of Android for extended reality applications, and the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset with 16GB of RAM.

The Galaxy XR is expected to serve as a central hub within the Samsung ecosystem, offering advanced features like precise eye and hand tracking. It will feature dual micro-OLED displays for immersive visuals and may integrate with Google’s Gemini AI for enhanced user interaction. The device is rumored to support 3D capture and spatial video playback, along with seamless connectivity to Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Although Samsung has not officially announced a launch date, industry sources suggest a possible debut in South Korea as early as October 21, with a price range estimated between $2,000 and $3,000. This competitive pricing would position the Galaxy XR favorably within the premium XR market.

As the anticipated launch date approaches, more details on availability and final features are expected to be revealed. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development in the XR space.
