In the ongoing Morning Lazziness series that shines a spotlight on women who have made a significant impact with their innovative ideas, I had the privilege of interviewing Brittany Fox.

Brittany Fox is a marketing strategist, digital transformation leader, and SAAS entrepreneur with a proven track record in providing high-impact marketing advice. She is the founder and CEO of Nevam, a platform designed to visually map customer journeys and equip teams with the tools to identify and resolve issues in real-time. Nevam’s groundbreaking "Living Journey Maps" offer valuable insights that empower brands to address customer experience blind spots promptly.

With over a decade of experience, Brittany has spearheaded strategic marketing and digital initiatives for global brands such as GAP, Oroton, Brooks Brothers, and the Children’s Cancer Institute. During her tenure at Deloitte Digital, she led large-scale transformation projects for some of Australia’s largest companies.

In 2024, while on maternity leave, Brittany launched Nevam – a platform that secured a spot in TechStars, sold its prototype to a leading Australian retailer, and developed a fully functional MVP in just 12 weeks. Her innovative approach to innovation and customer experience led her to be named a finalist in the Women Leading Tech Awards in the founder/entrepreneurial category.

Passionate about revolutionizing how companies engage with customers, Brittany built Nevam to help brands remain agile, human-centered, and future-focused.

During our interview, Brittany shared insights on the challenges she has overcome, the milestones she has achieved, and the wisdom she has gained along her journey.

What inspired you to start your business, and what problem were you passionate about solving?

Brittany has spent over a decade envisioning Nevam and believing that such a platform should exist. As a marketer and consultant, she desired a centralized source where she could access all her work to make informed decisions. While on maternity leave with her second child, Brittany realized that her career trajectory was predetermined, and she yearned to tackle new challenges.

The core problem Nevam aims to solve is the lack of a current source of truth for customer experiences. By providing companies with a platform to collaborate and work more efficiently, Nevam seeks to bridge the gap in customer experience insights.

How has your company evolved since its launch, and what key decisions have contributed to its growth?

Nevam initially launched with a prototype for its first Enterprise client. Through this experience, the team learned that companies faced challenges in adopting SAAS solutions. Therefore, Nevam collaborated with consultants who were eager to gain more visibility across a broader scope and streamline their workflow within a single tool. Today, Nevam partners with multiple agencies and directly serves two large corporations.

What sets your brand apart in today’s competitive market?

Unlike most SAAS platforms that cater to specific verticals, Nevam supports companies and consultants working in silos by synchronizing content and data in a unified platform without additional user licenses. By automating customer journey mapping and connecting channels seamlessly, Nevam empowers organizations to make informed decisions collaboratively.

What has been your most effective marketing strategy to date, and why do you believe it has been successful?

Founder-led marketing and leveraging referral networks have proven effective for Nevam. In Australia, building networks and fostering trust are integral to business success, making warm introductions a crucial starting point for meaningful conversations.

How do you stay connected with your target audience and understand their needs or behavior?

Nevam has cultivated a product community where they engage with users quarterly to address new challenges and gather feedback. By organizing events like "Solve-the-Problem" breakfasts, Nevam involves its community in the product development process, fostering a sense of ownership and excitement among users.

What branding movement or campaign has propelled your company to the next level?

Nevam is currently in the midst of its largest branding campaign to date, aimed at announcing its expansion and vision in markets where it has had limited visibility. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting initiative!

What does success look like for you beyond numbers, focusing on goals or impact?

For Brittany, success lies in driving organizational change towards a more experimental and customer-centric approach. By influencing behavior within companies to enhance customer experiences, Nevam aims to achieve success. Of course, a healthy ROI is always a welcomed bonus!

How do you define personal success beyond financial growth and achievements?

Brittany considers herself successful every day if she can create value for customers while maintaining a balanced lifestyle that allows her to be present as a mother and woman.

Can you share a challenge or setback that ultimately led to a breakthrough for your brand?

Recently, Nevam made the strategic decision to focus on selling to consultants rather than directly to companies. By aligning with consultants who serve as trusted advisors to end users, Nevam aims to drive user adoption through established relationships, marking a pivotal turning point for the brand.

What daily habits or rituals keep you focused, creative, and grounded as a leader?

Brittany’s daily routine includes starting her day with a workout, prioritizing family time, debriefing with her husband, indulging in leisure reading before bed, and maintaining an agile approach to decision-making.

How do you approach innovation and risk in your business strategy?

Brittany adopts an agile approach to innovation, outlining a broad roadmap and vision while refining details through sprints. By listening to her intuition and promptly addressing any uncertainties, she navigates risks efficiently and drives innovation within her business.

What advice would you offer to aspiring entrepreneurs navigating today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape?

Brittany emphasizes the importance of validating the problem and fostering an obsession with solving it. She encourages entrepreneurs to embrace the learning curve, seek continuous improvement, and remain steadfast in their pursuit of success.

Where can our audience connect with you and discover more about your work and offerings?
