There are moments when we all feel a bit lost and overwhelmed. Despite our efforts to meditate and stay mindful, these days still come around, albeit hopefully less frequently. Since I began practicing meditation and increasing my self-awareness, I have found it easier to navigate through these challenging times and find my center. I have a few go-to strategies that work well for me, and I would love to hear about what works for you in the comments below:
1. Hydrate
Water has a grounding effect, so consider taking a relaxing bath with epsom salts or enjoying a warm cup of tea to help center yourself.
2. Move Your Body
Engaging in physical activity such as running, yoga, walking, biking, hiking, or dancing can elevate your mood and release any negative energy. The key is to get your body moving.
3. Spend Time with Animals
Connecting with pets, whether it’s your own or a neighbor’s, can be incredibly calming. Consider laying on the floor and bonding with your furry friends to ease your mind.
4. Write It Out
Journaling can be a powerful tool for expressing your thoughts and emotions. Allow your ideas to flow freely onto the page and release any pent-up feelings.
5. Seek Guidance Through Prayer
Turning to prayer can provide comfort and clarity during challenging times. Don’t hesitate to ask the Universe for guidance and a fresh perspective on your situation.
6. Practice Extra Meditations
Incorporating additional meditation sessions throughout your day, even if they are just a few minutes long, can help restore your balance. Consider trying a guided meditation for added support.
7. Explore Reiki Healing
If you are Reiki certified or have a friend who is, consider incorporating this energy work practice into your routine for additional support and healing.
8. Embrace Nature
Spending time outdoors, even if it’s just a short walk around the block or a few moments basking in the sun in your backyard, can be rejuvenating and grounding.
9. Harness the Power of Grounding Crystals
If you are sensitive to crystal energy, consider working with grounding crystals like smoky quartz or black tourmaline to help stabilize your energy and emotions.
10. Focus on Exhaling
Use your breath as a tool to release stress and tension. With each exhale, let go of negativity and invite in calm and peace with each inhale.
11. Get Lost in a Good Book
Immersing yourself in a captivating book can offer a temporary escape from reality and help you recharge before returning to your day.
12. Sing Your Heart Out
Whether you have a great singing voice or not, singing can be a fun and liberating way to lift your spirits. Belt out your favorite tunes in the privacy of your car or home to release any pent-up emotions.
